How We Serve Our Community

At Gulf Coast Community Federal Credit Union, we sincerely believe in giving back. We're proud that we've been recognized both locally and nationally for our various community involvement efforts, including receiving both the state and national Dora Maxwell awards for community contribution and social involvement; both the Harrison County small and medium business of the year award for economic excellence; and being named one of the "Best Places To Work In Mississippi." We were selected as the America's Credit Unions "Community Credit Union of the Year," a national award that recognizes credit unions that consistently excel in the advancement of credit union ideals and proactive community involvement, and the highest honor that any community credit union can receive.

We support and participate in many civic and professional organizations and contribute to numerous charitable organizations and events. We sponsor various academic and athletic teams and events at the high schools in Harrison and Hancock County as well as other city and county events. Our contributions to the National Credit Union Foundation (NCUF)'s Disaster Relief Fund best exemplify the way we endeavor to "pay it forward." Following Hurricane Katrina, our staff received an incredible outpouring of support from credit union employees all over the country through the NCUF's relief fund. In response, we began an employee wide contribution through payroll deduction and corporate match that resulted in annual donations of thousands of dollars to aid credit union disaster relief efforts over the past 18 years. In 2023, our employees voted to begin donating through payroll deduction to the Mental Health Association of South Mississippi (MHASM). We wholeheartedly support the mission of MHASM and recognize the positive impact that their organization has on so many people in our community.

As part of our commitment to our community, both locally and globally, we also actively support green initiatives such as encouraging members to receive eStatements, recycling shredded documents, and implementing paperless procedures whenever and wherever possible. We believe that all of our various community involvement efforts reflect our heartfelt commitment to the idea of people helping people.
